Hira is Qasim Angudi and Haider Variava — friends who studied maths together at Brunel, spent a decade each leading analytics inside large, data-rich organisations, and started Hira in 2023 to bring that same rigour to smaller businesses.
Between us, that's two decades of leading analytics and BI inside large, data-rich organisations — the kind of work that turns scattered, contradictory data into decisions leadership can act on. We started Hira to bring that same standard to smaller businesses.
Around a decade building and leading analytics in product-led businesses — telecoms, education and hospitality. Qasim works at the commercial end of data: customer segmentation, lifetime value, retention and churn, and rigorous A/B experimentation. Mathematics & Statistics, Brunel University London.
Over a decade in analytics and BI leadership across the UK and UAE — automotive, telecoms and utilities. Haider is strongest on BI and KPI strategy, executive reporting, and turning fragmented operational data into a single, trusted view. Mathematics & Statistics, Brunel University London.
We'd both seen what a serious data function does for a large company — and how rarely a smaller business gets the same. The tools are affordable now; the missing piece is the judgement that turns scattered data into decisions. Hira exists to bring that judgement to businesses that can't yet justify a full data team.
Hira is named after the Cave of Hira — Ghar Hira, in the Mountain of Light near Mecca. It was where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would withdraw in solitude: a place of prayer, peace, and reflection, set apart from the noise. And it was there that the angel Jibril (Gabriel) first brought him revelation — where Islam began.
We don't compare ourselves to that. The cave was the birth of something immeasurable; we only hope to be a small beginning — part of a growing movement of Muslim founders building seriously in data and technology here in the UK.
What we carry from it is one idea: clarity. The cave was a place where stepping back made things clear — and that is the whole of our work: helping people pull back from the noise of scattered systems and see, plainly, what their data is telling them, before they act.
